Free Personal signatures - cool!

Mumma's little midnight companion...

Every night that I sit up sewing I have a little friend come and visit me... He sits behind my chair and keeps me company during those long hours alone... At first he would not come into my sewing room, and that was ok... then there was a dreadfully nasty storm with hard core lightening and thunder - the house was shaking and everything!! I kid you not!! The boy was terrified! The moment I opened that back door he shot in and went into my room and hid under my desk and would not leave!! Now he comes in every night and sits with me... I love it!

This is my little man in black... His name is Vini...

BURSTING with ideas!!!

The last time my QS came to visit me sh bought me a blue spiral bound book... She told me that it was for all of my randoms... Like idea's, thoughts, pictures I like, websites... everything to do with me and my sewing... and anything else random ;)

OK! Hold on! It may be a bit plain at the moment but what is that saying?? "Don't judge a book by its cover!" I'll get on to ASAP and "BLING" it up a bit and by the next time you see it WILL be a BEAUTY!!!
Some of the ideas I have ion there are bags, pillows, sewing machine covers, key rings, quilts, chair bags, baby name sake wall hangings, baby blocks, pictures of my fav things like mushrooms and hot air balloons as well as sketches and tracings...
It sounds like a hold bunch of things and as if the book is already full but its not... I still have so many ideas...
Brie suggested that I take my book every where with me because you never know when and idea might just HIT you and you need to write it or draw it down before it escapes!  SO! All I need to do is squeeze it in my nappy bag somewhere in between the poo bags and the wipes!! ;D LOL! You know I love you Bee!!

Learning in Progress...

I was going to write a up a creation experience for each of my makings... But I've decided that that type of venture is going to make for a very numb bottom and many MANY blog posts!!
So Instead I'm going to put pictures up of all of the things that I've made so that you can see it all :)

I made this for my husbands grandmother for Christmas last year

I made this for my little girl for her 4th birthday last year...

This was a gift for my mother for Christmas...

This little bear I made with a girlfriend of mine... She created her and then I did one of her classes... Be Creative With Amy

This was my first attempt at a drink Bottle Cover... It was not really that good but as I have made more I have discovered better more efficient ways to make them.

This is my second attempt... its a little better...

My third go... Almost perfection!! (In my opinion ;D!)

I had an idea one night and wanted to see if it would work or not... It did... but it could have been done better, you know?? So now that I've made it once and taken notes I will make more with all of the improvements...

This was made for my son for school... I thought I was really good till he took it to school and I saw other ones that were made properly... :( But that is ok... I'll learn...

The moral of this post I suppose is that I am still learning... Everything is a work in progress!!

Improvement...

During this past week I set myself two hard goals and achieving them was quite difficult and required me to push my physical boundaries some what to the max...
At 9pm on Monday night I spontaneously decided that I was going to make my mother in law a "PROPER"  (not like that silly looking one I had made on Saturday...) sewing machine cover by the next time I saw her... I was seeing her on Wednesday for Australia Day... She being a superb quilter, I expected nothing but the very best of craftswomen-ship to grace this gift!! I went in search of a machine cover pattern in one of my many craft magazines (of which by the way, in my opinion, are absolutely brilliant!! ) and found a delightfully looking pattern that seemed simple enough.
By  very late Tuesday night it was finished and I was  and still am, quite proud of how well I have done it, and how good it looks!
This is a picture of it finished...

I think it looks pretty good... considering I'm only learning...  What do you think??

That night I decided to make my QS (quilting sister) one for her machine too... I was to see her on Friday... and so once again I began to make another one... over halfway through some thing horrid happened!! A Sewers WORST night mare!! My machine started to pull the bottom thread through to the top! NOOOOOOOOOO!!!! Not when I was so close!! AND THE MOST HORRIBLE PART OF ALL WAS THAT i DIDN'T KNOW HOW TO FIX IT!! :o *Gasps* Shocking I know!! I called my QS and my mother in law, but no one could help me! I even put the problem on my facebook!! In the end I had a big fiddle with it and discovered that some thread was stuck in my bobbin case! Once I pulled the thread out it worked a treat! I was then able to get on with my sewing and finish my QS's machine case!
This is what Brie's case looks like...

Not to bad for my second proper cover eh? I'm not too sure if I like this cover as much as the other one?? I'm don't know if I like the look of the colours... But my QS likes it and that is all that matters... I mean it is her cover anyways!

Late night...

My pro as quilting sister, Brie, came to stay the night last Friday so we could quilt the night away and enjoy each others company. All was going very VERY well when my son broke his finger and I then had to put everything aside and rush him to the hospital... 4 hours later we arrived home... But I was PUMPED!!! I was so ready to quilt All night, I was just hoping my sister was just as
Keen as me!
We ended up staying up till 3am doing applique! Brie had asked me to teach her so I did and while we sewed we watched the "Polar Bear King." It was great to just sit down and and sew and not have to worry about a thing!! I was able to appliqué my whole picture too... Granted it was not that big... ;)
This is what we sewed,

I did the mushrooms (by the way they are like my new FAV!!) and Brie did the cup cake and tea cup.

On the Sat Brie went home early :'( and then I used my MUSHIES in a project! I made a pathetic excuse for a sewing machine cover...:( Ok... that's a bit harsh... it was really REALLY good until I put it all together - wrong... :P I used my new free hand quilting foot for the very first time EVER too!! Not only that - but it was the very first time I had actually done any free hand quilting of any kind.. So naturally I was devastated when I discovered I had sewn it together wrong! It is all crooked and weird looking!
SEE!!

It's all funky looking don't you reckon?!! I LOVE the mushrooms (Brie drew them for me) but the rest is totally horrid!! *SHAME* I'll have to unpick it and do it right! Cant have something as shameful as that in my sewing room on my wonderful machine!! UGH!! NO WAY!

January

This was my thought pattern earlier on this month:

Ok... So I have had some ideas about the January block... Water... humm... Blue, Purple and Green... humm..??? Beach? Sea? Pond? Frog? Lily pad? Lily pad and frog? Purple lily flower, Green lily pad, green frog, blue water, purple dragonfly?? Humm...?? I like that... now to try and draw it...

Drawing it completely failed...It took me over an hour to research pictures and to draw it and it didnt even end up looking a thing like it did in my head!! You see, I have this problem... I can't draw to save my life! So I gave up on that idea and went for a sea theme... this is what I came up with:

The drawing look pretty good on paper eh? I thought so too... But a poor choice in fabrics led to this disaster...

The blue was a nice colour but the pattern of the fabric did not suit the picture and over crowded and made it very busy...But before I realized all of this, I had already done two of those failures...

*sigh*

So back to the drawing board I went... and after a few days of just pondering on what I was going to do I decided to do droplets of water falling off a flower and a leaf into a puddle of water... Now that I had this FABULOUS idea, how on earth was I to accomplish this?? I cant draw for sticks, and I only had my mobile internet to use and no printer or books or anything else that might remotely help me... And this is what happened...

Granted its not finished yet and the flower looks like a crabs pincer... I reckon it looks pretty good! Though my sisters block looks so pro its not funny!! It leaves mine for dead!! You will defiantly be able to tell her blocks from mine in this quilt!!!! By the way... I forgot to tell you... she can actually draw!! She is an artist - I have no hope then!! *SHAME* Arrh! But what can you do?? Some one has to be born with the talent and the other with the looks!! ^_^ You know I love you Brie!!

When I'm done I'll put a pic up so you can see...

Sisterhood...

My sister, Brie, shares my passion for quilting... in fact she set this blog up for me and is encouraging me to blog my progress and sell what I make... I not only quilt but have begun to sew other things like wall hangings, drink bottle covers, baby toys, bags and a few other things.

Together, she and I have decided to do a quilt that represents each of our very different quilting styles and likes into one brilliant and very individual quilt! We have named it "Sisterhood".

There is a theme to this quilt as well as colours so that we dont get too side tracked and end up with one wacky and colorfully odd quilt. The theme of the quilt is "Water" and the main colours are Blue, Purple and Green. There is no pattern for this quilt so we are making it up as we go along. We need to design one block each per month and make two of it, one for Brie's quilt and one for mine. The block must include the theme and the colours of quilt.

This month has seen the commencement of this massive and fun project!! I will keep you posted on my progress.

Crumbs! I forgot...

Bother Dash! I forgot to introduce you to some one very special to me. Without her none of this would be possible...Her name is Trixi...

We have been together now for around 6years, and to be perfectly honest with you, I have ignored her for the better part of 5 1/2 of those years - much to my utter shame! My Husband bought her for me from his mother (an excellent quilter if I may say so!), in the hopes that I might mend his pants and take the hems up on them... he still takes his pants to his mothers to this very day!! LOL!!

When I was at a difficult time in my life and having discovered a very real need of escaping from the world, I went in search of a friend I could use who would not reject me, or get sick of me or criticize me when i made a boo boo. A friend who would follow me every where, but not get under my feet unless I wanted her there and who wouldn't mind me waking her in the middle of the night to bash out my frustrations on!!
(and the good thing is she doesn't care if I'm dressed to the nines or in my trackies with fuzzy hair!!)

AND SO...

We rekindled our long lost friendship one wet, cold and very rainy day.

SO there! Now you have it! You have met my dear friend Trixi...

Set Up

This is my first post on my new blog and I'm sooooo excited!!! Please bare with me as I fumble around trying to firguring out how to work this thing!! It might take me a bit to get it together as I don't have a working computer and am doing this from my mobile phone.

Iv already sewn a few things but I'll admit they need much "Tweeking" before I deem them fit for sale... You see I'm am a bit of a perfectionist and believe that if you pay for something you ought to get value for money.

Since this blog is still in the making I have decided to let those who read this, to help me creat it and help me dicide the things that I will make...
Here is a list of my items I'm thinking of making:

* Drink bottle covers
* Chair bags
* Hand bags
* Quilts
* Taggie blankets
* Baby stuffed cubes
* Baby toys

Does anyone have any more ideas?? All ideas are very welcome. I'll update you soon...
